Green Grass and Montana Skies

Ahh Montana you continue to to both surprise me and impress me. And how can you not be impressed with the crazy light we can get here at times!

It seems like almost every afternoon we have a storm roll through, which has been keeping the grass here just outside of Bozeman very green. This was photographed last week just before sunset with yet another storm rolling by.

This was photographed with my Olympus OM-D E-M1X and M.Zuiko 12-10mm f4 Pro lens handheld at 35mm at ISO 200, 1/400s at f6.3 in hand-held high resolution mode giving me a 50MP file.

RAW processing was done in Capture One Pro. I then used the new Topaz Studio 2 plugin inside Photoshop to bring out the texture in the sky as well as fine-tuning of the overall color and tone.

The above photo shows a before/after while inside Topaz Studio 2. As you can see, I used the following filters in it: AI Clear, Dehaze (which really brought out the details in the sky), a second round of Dehaze, Precision Contrast, Basic Adjustments, and Curves.

After Topaz I did a little dodging & burning to finish the photo.
