Sunrise on the Jetty – Mustang Island – Corpus Christi – Texas

Being a native New Englander, I rarely lived more than an hour from the beach and definitely miss the ocean from time to time.

I don’t miss the bugs though – the mosquitos, horse flies, no-see-ums, etc. And they were out in full force the few days I was at Mustang Island in Corpus Christi, Texas a few years back.

At least I had nice light.

One Camera, One Lens: The AZ State Fair – a Photo Essay

I am starting a new feature here on my photography blog called One Camera, One Lens Photo Essays.

These photo essays will be photographed when I am out shooting with just one camera and one lens. Why only one camera and lens? Read here for the story and to view the galleries.

As for my first photo gallery, it has to do with the 2014 Arizona State Fair, where in mid October I went to the Fair in Phoenix for a good portion of the midday and brought my Sony a7 mirrorless camera and Sony FE 35mm lens.

Early evening light at Coyote Buttes

I photographed this 7 years ago in Coyote Buttes, a very remote area in Northern Arizona along the Utah border.

evening light at coyote buttes

Earlier in the day I was photographing at the Wave when I tripped and slightly fractured my ankle and had to hike out using my tripod as a crutch. This was photographed on the hike out.

When I eventually hiked out and drove back to where my tent was set up, the ankle went right into the beer cooler. I ended up staying in the area for a couple more days photographing, then had the ankle checked out by a doctor when I returned to Phoenix.

The RAW file of this photo had been sitting on my hard drive all this time before I enhanced it and brought it to life earlier this week using Capture One Pro and Perfect Photo Suite. This photo is part of my Open Edition Collection and you can purchase prints in numerous different sizes and finishes here.
