New Workshop Announcement: 2015 Grand Teton Fall Foliage Photography Workshop

Registration is now open for my 2015 Grand Teton Fall Foliage Field Photography Workshop in Wyoming on October 1-4, 2015.

The workshop is open to any skill level with a maximum class size of just 8 students.

Grand Teton National Park is one of the most beautiful and majestic landscapes in the world, with the Teton Range rising more than 7,000 feet above the valley. Located in northwestern Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park has some of the more dramatic scenery in the Rocky Mountains. It is sure to be an inspiration for any photographer looking to create beautiful images.

2015 Tetons Fall promo

This workshop is scheduled for when it should be near peak fall foliage at the Tetons. Aspens will be changing their color to a brilliant yellow and orange, snow will return to the peaks of the Tetons (and maybe even at ground level if we are lucky), and animals will be on the move and more visible as they prepare for the winter.

You will learn and improve your skills in the following areas: getting perfect exposures, composition, lens selection, the use of split neutral density filters and solid density filters to control exposure and for effect, how to photograph stitched panoramas, exposure bracketing (HDR), working a scene to create numerous photos & compositions from one location, and more.

For more information and to register visit the workshop page here.

Have you taken a photo workshop with me before?

Student Alumni can register for this workshop with a savings of 10%.

This workshop is sure to sell out so don’t hesitate in registering! In fact the workshop was already 25% sold out prior to this public announcement from those signed up to my photo workshop newsletter list.

Spend 4 days learning and photographing during what should be peak fall foliage.

One on One Photography Student Testimonial James Seith

A couple months ago I helped one of my students, James Seith, during two sessions of my online one-on-one photography instruction classes. James is an experienced amateur photographer who has traveled the world taking photographs and needed help processing and enhancing his photos. Via screen sharing with Skype I showed him how to do that using Lightroom, Photoshop, Capture One Pro, Photo Mechanic, and Perfect Photo Suite.

He emailed me a testimonial of his experience which I copied here. You can see more of his work on his website here. If you are interested in one of my one-on-one sessions you can find more information here. These sessions can take place in person or online.

Testimonial:

Best four hours of intensive photography instruction I’ve had in 15 years as a serious enthusiast. I decided on two sessions, both two hours long with a video for my use later.  They were exactly what I needed to get a real jump start in Capture One and Perfect Photo Suite and then actually begin to use the tools between sessions.  I had a couple of weeks after the first session to practice and to focus in on areas where I wanted additional help in the second two-hour session.

Creative Photography classroom workshop with Perfect Photo Suite 8 in Phoenix wrap-up

What a great class and group of students Christine Hauber and I had this past weekend when we taught Perfect Photo Suite 8 from onOne Software during our Creative Photography Classroom Workshop in North Phoenix.

Apr 13 2014216

Over the course of 2 days I taught the most important functions and features of Perfect Photo Suite 8. Students were given a selection of my photos to work on and follow along in the class. I gave examples on how to use each of the modules in PPS8 while Christine walked around helping the students and answering questions. A bunch of time was set aside for one-on-one instruction from us both as students worked on enhancing their own photos.

Zion National Park 2013 Fall Photo Workshop Wrap-up

I am now back in Scottsdale, AZ following the 5-Day photography workshop Christine Hauber and I taught in Zion National Park, Utah. Registration will open later this week for our 2014 Zion Fall Workshop but in the meantime enjoy this wrap-up from the 2013 workshop.

Getting up early to catch the first rays of sunlight is what is needed for great photos and our students were up for the challenge.

Getting up early to catch the first rays of sunlight is what is needed for great photos and our students were up for the challenge.

We were treated to some unseasonably warm temperatures this year with daytime temps reaching the upper 60’s to low 70’s and nighttime temps falling to just above freezing to the low 40’s. While the fall foliage this year wasn’t as good as in the past – see my fall foliage 2013 report here – we still were not at a loss for beautiful and dramatic things to photograph.
