Early evening light at Coyote Buttes

I photographed this 7 years ago in Coyote Buttes, a very remote area in Northern Arizona along the Utah border.

Earlier in the day I was photographing at the Wave when I tripped and slightly fractured my ankle and had to hike out using my tripod as a crutch. This was photographed on the hike out.

When I eventually hiked out and drove back to where my tent was set up, the ankle went right into the beer cooler. I ended up staying in the area for a couple more days photographing, then had the ankle checked out by a doctor when I returned to Phoenix.

The RAW file of this photo had been sitting on my hard drive all this time before I enhanced it and brought it to life earlier this week using Capture One Pro and Perfect Photo Suite. This photo is part of my Open Edition Collection and you can purchase prints in numerous different sizes and finishes here.

It’s a Tough Job…

It’s a tough job being a truck on a horse ranch.

The days are long, the sun is strong, and there is always work to be done. Your work defines you and just by looking you can tell Old Betsy here has done her share of hard work over the years. Yet there is still more to be done…

Its a tough job

Sunset at Paines Creek Beach on Cape Cod

Every once in a while everything lines up perfectly and you hit a home run.

That is what happened to me this particular evening at Paine’s Creek Beach & Landing in Brewster on Cape Cod, Mass.

One of my favorite places to photograph, I arrived here in the early afternoon – hours before sunset. Light clouds on the horizon were telling me there could be a nice sunset later in the evening.

Once the sun started setting, the light and color started reflecting off the clouds and it kept getting more colorful and more intense as each minute passed. I barely even noticed the thousands of no-see-ums practically eating me alive while photographing this amazing scene.

Easily one of the best sunsets I ever saw and had the chance to photograph on Cape Cod in the 7 years I lived there.

Winter Sunset at Delicate Arch in Arches National Park Utah

I took this photograph of Delicate Arch in Moab, Utah on a particularly cold January day in 2009, with a snow-capped La Sal Mountains in the background.

The way I hiked in to the arch was quite dangerous – a narrow sheet of ice with huge drop-offs in some places. I ended up finding another way to hike out later in the dark and was able to avoid the ice on the way out.
