I came across a herd of elk shortly after sunrise at Grand Teton National Park last month as they were on the move. I quickly parked the car in a pull-off and started taking photos from just outside the car.
They came out of the woods and into a clearing and this group of cows, with a calf, paused for just a moment to get a look around to see if there was any danger in the area.
Sometimes it just takes a while for inspiration to strike. This photo in particular took a couple years before everything was just right.

I have driven past this old car over a dozen times in the last few years with never stopping for a photo. There were many reasons for not stopping and it all had to do with the light. Most times I drove by the sunlight was either too harsh or hidden behind a blanket of clouds.
This time however the light was just right with attractive clouds in the sky and I pulled my RV over to photograph.
This was photographed in 2011 with my Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 17-40mm. It is a 3 photo HDR image that was processed with the following software: Lightroom, Photoshop, HDR Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, and Color Efex Pro from Nik Software.
