Santa Fe 5-day Photo Workshop 2013 Wrap-up

What a fantastic class Christine and I had for our third annual Santa Fe 5-day Photo Workshop Boot-Camp!

A huge thanks goes out to our students for choosing us as their teachers!! We had one returning and 5 new students this year. If you have taken one of our photo workshops before, you already know that we prefer to keep our class sizes small so we can provide more one-on-one instruction and this year was no exception.

Christine explains some different camera settings to one of our students during some one-on-one time.

Our Santa Fe Boot-Camp is a combination of field and classroom study and we had both great light and great software to work with this year.

Of the software we taught this year it seemed like Capture One Pro for processing and cataloging RAW files and onOne’s Perfect Photo Suite were the favorites for nearly everyone. We taught a workflow that didn’t involve Photoshop this year and the students left with the skills needed to do incredible enhancements with little effort. All agreed that it was easier for them to use than trying to understand Photoshop.

Using Capture One Pro with their RAW files everyone learned how to catalog, keyword and caption, color correct, enhance, crop, remove dust spots, export in different file sizes and more.

Using onOne’s Perfect Photo Suite we showed them how to color correct their photos, enhance them with photo effects, smooth skin for portraits, whiten eyes and teeth, make layer masks, remove and replace the sky, add selective and creative focus, and resize their images for print or social medial sharing, and more.

Here is what some of our students said about our workshop followed by a slideshow.

It made me interested in going even further into photo editing than I had expected it would.

It was nice to be able to ask questions and if appropriate get a more technical discussion.

A photography “WOW” experience. No better way to learn about your camera, how to use it, and the ability to apply software for creating “your perfect photo.” Add exceptional and enthusiastic instructions from terrific teachers and the result is a workshop that is hard to beat!

We will soon be announcing dates for our 2014 Santa Fe Photography Boot-Camp – be sure to contact me if you are interested and I will add your name to our list of interested students and let you know first when registration is ready.
